HELSINKI, February 8, 2021 – Rightware, the leading provider of automotive user interface software and a headline partner of the annual Finnish Auto and Transportation Gala, proudly delivered the Innovation Award to Sensible 4 for their distinctive, forward-looking Gatcha autonomous shuttle bus.
This year, the annual gala was held under strict precautions at the Helsinki exhibition center. The main highlight of the event, Finland’s Car of the Year, was unveiled at the gala. A panel of judges made up of Finnish automotive journalists had narrowed the field to six finalists: Peugeot 2008, Porsche Taycan, Renault Captur, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Yaris, and Volkswagen ID.3.
Ultimately, the Porsche Taycan was named the people’s choice, but the Skoda Octavia was announced as the winner based on the judging criteria. Two of the six top-rated vehicles utilize Rightware’s unique Kanzi software to deliver the in-car user experience.
Rightware Account Manager Mika Kurkipää was pleased to present the Innovation Award to Sensible 4 for the Gatcha autonomous shuttle bus, as only a few companies have succeeded in qualifying such systems for use on public roads. Sensible 4 focuses on developing software for all-weather autonomous vehicles.
Sensible 4 CEO Harri Santamala explained in a televised interview that he was especially happy to receive the award from Rightware, as our growth has been a personal inspiration, proving that a smaller Finnish software company can succeed in the global, highly competitive automotive industry.
The award includes a grant from Rightware to a relevant recipient chosen by the winner. Sensible 4 selected Aalto University’s Automation and Systems Technology student guild as the grant recipient, to aid in the development of higher education in autonomic driving.
