World’s Leading Mobile Phone Gaming Benchmark Now Available for Free

Rightware releases free edition of Basemark™ ES 2.0 and launches Power Board to enable online score comparison for consumers worldwide

Espoo, Finland – December 22, 2011 – Rightware®, the provider of world’s most widely adopted benchmarking software for mobile phones, tablets and other embedded devices, today announced the release of Power Board, an online benchmarking database service, and Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free, a consumer-version of the industry’s standard graphics benchmarking product. Both are available immediately. Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free for Android-based smartphones, tablets and other embedded devices can be downloaded from Google’s Android Market and from Rightware’s website.

Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free offers a true benchmark for gamers, game developers, and other consumers who want to see how fast their device performs in the context of gaming and graphics. This giveaway by Rightware is a portion of the full product, Basemark™ ES 2.0, which was developed in close cooperation with the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers and semiconductor companies. Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free provides a scientifically designed and reliable game scene – Taiji Girl – to test the 3D graphics performance of the device. High-detail 3D content in Taiji Girl generates a workload that taxes OpenGL ES 2.0 implementation in a realistic, visually stunning way. After running the benchmark, consumers can easily check how the performance of their device compares to other devices with the integrated Power Board online service. The version released today supports Android and a version for iOS will be released in Q1 2012. By enabling an identical test case on both platforms, Android and iOS, Basemark™ ES 2.0 Taiji Free will provide an objective and trustworthy comparison of graphics performance of devices running different operating systems.

The Power Board online database gathers and maintains official benchmarking data from Rightware’s world-class roster of benchmarking products. Power Board allows access to benchmarking data of graphics, system, multicore, browser and user interface performance of various different devices, running different operating systems and hardware. The purpose of Power Board is to be an official forum for consumers and independent observers where device performance is objectively reported.

Since 2007, only the world’s top mobile phone and semiconductor companies have had access to Basemark ES 2.0, and therefore I am truly excited about being able to finally share our work with every gamer and enthusiast around the world. I hope that our fans will find it not only useful, but also a fun and exciting way to get a deeper understanding of the gaming performance capabilities of their mobile phones, pads and other devices,” said Tero Sarkkinen, CEO of Rightware. “Basemark ES 2.0 Taiji Free works hand-in-hand with Power Board, enabling anyone to compare the gaming and graphics performance of their devices against other devices. Personally, I believe this sort of data will also have an impact on what devices consumers will want to buy in the future.”"
