SimulationMark ES2.0
SimulationMark ES2.0 details the creation of a suite of workload based OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics benchmarks that will allow manufacturers to test and compare mobile 3D hardware performance at the design stage. By combining theoretical and real life workloads, SimulationMark ES 2.0 provides accurate comparisons between graphics hardware designs and produce calculated performance estimates without requiring an actual hardware implementation. With high level shader and parameter descriptions for building theoretical shader performance and practical shader performance tests, and practical game test performance measurements derived via workloads for real world mobile gaming performance, SimulationMark ES 2.0 enables manufacturers to calculate valuable 3D graphics performance data prior to investing in physical silicon based implementations.
Usage
SimulationMark ES 2.0 will assist manufacturers in evaluating Open GL ES 2.0 performance. SimulationMark ES 2.0 specifies simple feature test(s) in a way that a manufacturer can measure the chip performance already at design phase by calculating manually. Being able to manually determine these test workloads at the development and prototype phase will allow for better evaluation of technology implementations and ultimately yielding optimally performing, 3D capable devices. The test(s) are specified on a high-level to be feasible to calculate on different architectures, but at the same time detailed enough to decrease the misuse and misinterpretation of results. Results can be used by manufactures for promotion of their technology’s performance to handset and mobile device manufacturers.
For software developers, test workloads will help them evaluate next generation hardware and device capabilities to assess how well those devices will handle their future 3D product offerings.
For operators, test workloads will help to define their mobile device 3D performance requirements related to their next generation applications in gaming space. This product also helps operators to require exact performance levels from Handset-Mobile device manufacturers.
